In July 2005, Renault's seven-seat Grand Scenic dCi 106 Euro IV was hailed by an independent MSN Cars study as the UK's greenest car, due to the meagre 20.57 grams of carbon dioxide which it emits per kilometre for each of its passengers. Today, with global warming continuing to be hot news, it comes as no surprise that Renault UK has chosen to exhibit the car at the Environmentally Friendly Vehicles Conference being held at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, 10-11 November 2005.
Organised by the Department for Transport as part of the UK's Presidency of the G8 this year, the two-day event will feature a high-profile audience of delegates from home and abroad, debating a range of topics including, measures to develop the environmentally friendly vehicles of the future, plus science and technological developments.
There will also be an exhibition, organised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders next to the symposium. In it, the fuel-friendly Grand Scenic dCi 106 Euro IV, which emits 144 CO2 g/km and returns an impressive 52.3 miles per gallon on a combined cycle, will feature on the Renault stand to show how fuel-efficient the company's modern diesel common-rail injection (dCi) engines have become, as well as providing an interesting contrast to the other alternatively-powered vehicles on show.
The Grand Scenic dCi 106 Euro IV is available in Dynamique and Expression guise, with prices from £17,320, which is less than a smaller five-seater hybrid for example.
